Foster Lake
Foster Lake, Alfred University's 25-acre recreational area, is open for the season for all kinds of outdoor activities and it's just minutes from campus!
Acquired by the University in 2002, Foster Lake is part of a 220-acre site available for academic use by the university and for recreational use by the university and community. Alfred University students, employees, and retirees may use the property by displaying their AU parking pass on their vehicle. Non-AU community members may buy an annual membership to access the property and will receive a Foster Lake parking pass for their vehicle.
Recreational activities at the lake include swimming under lifeguard supervision, fishing, bird watching, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and small craft sailing. Recreational trails and picnic areas circle the lake. The adjoining woods are moderate to heavy, thanks to reforestation efforts that began in 1950.
