Campus Safety

While Alfred's location ensures a high level of safety, the University is well aware that substance abuse and illegal behavior can happen anywhere and has put in place a staff that is committed to providing professional safety services to the academic community, and educating its members on how to be aware of safety issues.

Staffing

The Alfred University Office of Public Safety is supervised by the Chief of Public Safety and is staffed by a team professionals and student assists. All professional staff members are certified police officers though the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The department enforces university policies and municipal and state laws, in support of the academic mission of the university.

The Campus Safety Office is open 24 hours, providing support to the campus community around-the-clock. Call 607-871-2108 for 24-hour dispatch.

Awareness & Prevention

Presentations are made each year to members of the University community which heighten personal and community awareness of fire and safety procedures, issues of personal safety and well-being, as well as drug and alcohol awareness.

Behavior Assessment Team

If you are concerned about a student's behavior and wish to alert a group of professionals who will assess the level of concern, contact the Behavior Assessment Team.

Parking

All employees, students, and visitors are required to obtain, learn and follow the campus parking rules and regulations.

Student vehicle registration is $99.05 for the first vehicle and $75.05 for each additional vehicle registered. A $5.95 permit fulfillment fee also applies to all permits.

Special parking permits for visitors or campus guests should be obtained from the Office of Public Safety and are only valid for 3 consecutive days. Visitors are subject to the same rules and regulations as a registered vehicle owner.
