World Class Art School
Joe Brady applied to Alfred University partly on the advice of a high school art teacher. He was also attracted by the University’s world class reputation as an art school and the financial support it offered him. Altogether, Joe matriculated at Alfred University in the fall of 2019, and so far, his experience “has been great!”
By the end of his first year, Joe was wrapping up his Foundation curriculum, working on art projects from his home in Cortland, NY due to the University’s shift to online education in the face of the coronavirus outbreak. He has found the assignments easy to work on inside his home, and his art teachers have been “incredibly understanding” in their handling of online Foundation artwork.
He also has found his professors and fellow students a pleasure to work with. “The other students and staff have been incredibly nice, and I’ve learned a lot in my art classes, which have also introduced me to so many new experiences and different ways of thinking. I am enjoying my time at school and am eager to continue.”
On campus, he enjoys the friendly atmosphere of Alfred University. As a Foundation art student, he’s incredibly busy, so busy he does most of his socializing with other art students in studios, in addition to Ade Dining Hall and the Powell Campus Center.
With three more years to go, he hasn’t focused on a specific career plan, but he’s hoping to continue working on his art “and working creatively” as an Alfred University alumnus.
