Matthew Finley
Class of 2018
Holland, NY
Renewable Energy Engineering 4+1 MBA
In December 2018, Matthew Finley graduated with his MBA 4+1 in renewable energy engineering. Matthew’s interest in engineering began during high school, and Alfred’s comprehensive engineering program stood out from its competitors. The one-on-one interactions between faculty and students, staff members’ kindness and the opportunity to be a track & field athlete assured Matthew that he would make meaningful, lasting connections with those around him.
I love the freedom and free-spirited nature of AU, the friendly atmosphere and the culture this university has created.
Matthew co-created AU’s Tiny House Project, a Capstone project that allows engineering students to work alongside students from other disciplines, including the Art and Design, Business and Liberal Arts & Sciences colleges. Students gain hands-on, real-world experience by designing and creating a self-sustaining home. Matthew’s contributions to a sustainable human presence continued after he graduated. He currently has an energy engineering job in Rochester, NY.
